چکیده

The thermal degradation of three polymeric peroxides of styrene monomers with substituents in the para position was studied at various temperatures (65, 75, 85, and 95°C). A continuous distribution model was used to evaluate the rate coefficients for the random-chain and chain-end scission degradation from the evolution of molecular weight distributions with time. The activation energy determined from the temperature dependence of the rate coefficients was in the range 18–22 kcal mol . This result suggests that the thermal degradation of polyperoxide is controlled by the dissociation of the O—O bonds in the polymer backbone. The thermal stability for poly(p-methylstyrene peroxide) lies in between that of poly(p-tert-butylstyrene peroxide) (highest) and poly(p-bromostyrene peroxide) (lowest). © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Effect of some additives on degradation of poly (vinyl chloride- co- vinyl

The thermal decomposition of 86 % vinyl chloride 14 % vinyl acetate copolymer wasstudied by the conductometry technique in the presence of nitrogen. The kinetics of stability andthermal degradation of vinyl chloride- co- vinyl acetate (PVC- co- PVAc) copolymer withcopper, copper oxide and tricalcium dicitrate (st) were investigated at various temperatures (150-180 oC ) in solution. The rate coe...

Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Stability Study of Styrene-based Ionomers I) Programmed Heating Experiments (10 oC/min to 500 oC)

Ionomers are generally described by copolymers having either acrylic or methacylic acid as one component and the other component is mostly either ethylene or styrene. The objective of this research was to study the thermal behaviour and stability of ionomers of styrene with some alkali metal acrylates. These materials have been synthesized by neutralization of the respective copoly...

The styrene photocatalytic degradation reaction

In this study the aqueous styrene photocatalytic degradation reaction was evaluated using TiO 2 P-25 (Degussa) as catalyst. The experiments were accomplished in a batch reactor, with temperature control and catalyst in suspension. The radiation source was a 28 W UV lamp. Determinations of styrene concentrations were done by gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (FID). Preliminary ...

Thermal stability and degradation kinetics of polyphenols and polyphenylenediamines enzymatically synthesized by horseradish peroxidase

−Various substituted phenols and phenylenediamines were enzymatically polymerized by horseradish peroxidase in 80% (v/v) organic solvents-aqueous buffer (100 mM sodium acetate, pH 5) mixtures with H2O2 as the oxidant. The thermal stability of the polymers was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and represented by the char yield (wt% of the initial polymer mass) after being heated a...
